74.驴的大脑, The Ass's Brains (lǘ de dà nǎo)

shī zǐ hé hú lí yī qǐ qù dǎ liè ，

狮子和狐狸一起去打猎，

shī zǐ àn zhào hú lí de jiàn yì ，

狮子按照狐狸的建议，

sòng le yī fēng xìn  gěi lǘ ， tí yì lǘ yù tā men liǎng gè jiā tíng jiē méng 。

送了一封信给驴，提议驴与它们两个家庭结盟。

lǘ fēi cháng gāo xìng bìng qī dài zhe hé wáng shì lián méng ，tā jiù qù shī zǐ hé hú lí jù jí de dì fāng 。

驴非常高兴并期待着和王室联盟，它就去狮子和狐狸聚集的地方。

dāng tā dào dá hòu ， shī zǐ jiù zhuā zhù le lǘ 。

当它到达后，狮子就抓住了驴。

tā duì hú lí shuō ： “ zhè shì wǒ men jīn tiān de wǎn cān 。

它对狐狸说：“这是我们今天的晚餐。

nǐ zài zhè lǐ kàn zhe ， wǒ qù dǎ gè dǔn ér 。

你在这里看着，我去打个盹儿。

rú guǒ nǐ gǎn dòng wǒ de liè wù ， yǒu nǐ hǎo qiáo de ” 。

如果你敢动我的猎物，有你好瞧的”。

shī zǐ zǒu kāi hòu ， hú lí jiù yī zhí děng zhe 。

狮子走开后，狐狸就一直等着。

tā fā xiàn zhǔ rén yī zhí méi yǒu huí lái ， tā jiù bǎ lǘ de nǎo dài chī diào le。

它发现主人一直没有回来，它就把驴的脑袋吃掉了 。

dāng shī zǐ huí lái shí ， tā hěn kuài jiù fā xiàn lǘ de nǎo dài bù jiàn le ，

当狮子回来时，它很快就发现驴的脑袋不见了，

jiù duì hú lí hǒu jiào ： “ nǐ bǎ lǘ de nǎo dài nòng dào nǎ lǐ qù le ？ ” 。

就对狐狸吼叫：“你把驴的脑袋弄到哪里去了？”。

“ nǎo dài ？ guó wáng bì xià ！ tā méi yǒu nǎo dài yā ，

“脑袋？国王陛下！它没有脑袋呀，

rú guǒ tā yǒu nǎo dài jiù bù huì shàng nǐ de dàng le ” 。

如果它有脑袋就不会上你的当了”。 

gù shì shì shuō ： jī zhì yǒng yuǎn néng dài lái hǎo de jiě shì 。

故事是说：机智永远能带来好的解释。

The Lion and the Fox went hunting together.  

shī zǐ hé hú lí yī qǐ qù dǎ liè ，

The Lion and the Fox went hunting together.  

shī zǐ àn zhào hú lí de jiàn yì ，

sent a message to the Ass, proposing to make an alliance between their two families.  

sòng le yī fēng xìn  gěi lǘ ， tí yì lǘ yù tā men liǎng gè jiā tíng jiē méng 。

The Ass came to the place of meeting, overjoyed at the prospect of a royal alliance.  

lǘ fēi cháng gāo xìng bìng qī dài zhe hé wáng shì lián méng ，tā jiù qù shī zǐ hé hú lí jù jí de dì fāng 。

But when he came there the Lion simply pounced on the Ass,

dāng tā dào dá hòu ， shī zǐ jiù zhuā zhù le lǘ 。

and said to the Fox: "Here is our dinner for to-day.  

tā duì hú lí shuō ： “ zhè shì wǒ men jīn tiān de wǎn cān 。

and said to the Fox: "Here is our dinner for to-day.  

nǐ zài zhè lǐ kàn zhe ， wǒ qù dǎ gè dǔn ér 。

Woe betide you if you touch my prey."  

rú guǒ nǐ gǎn dòng wǒ de liè wù ， yǒu nǐ hǎo qiáo de ” 。

The Lion went away and the Fox waited

shī zǐ zǒu kāi hòu ， hú lí jiù yī zhí děng zhe 。

but finding that his master did not return, ventured to take out the brains of the Ass and ate them up.

tā fā xiàn zhǔ rén yī zhí méi yǒu huí lái ， tā jiù bǎ lǘ de nǎo dài chī diào le。

When the Lion came back he soon noticed the absence of the brains,

dāng shī zǐ huí lái shí ， tā hěn kuài jiù fā xiàn lǘ de nǎo dài bù jiàn le ，

and asked the Fox in a terrible voice: "What have you done with the brains?"

jiù duì hú lí hǒu jiào ： “ nǐ bǎ lǘ de nǎo dài nòng dào nǎ lǐ qù le ？ ” 。

"Brains, your Majesty! it had none, 

“ nǎo dài ？ guó wáng bì xià ！ tā méi yǒu nǎo dài yā ，

or it would never have fallen into your trap."

rú guǒ tā yǒu nǎo dài jiù bù huì shàng nǐ de dàng le ” 。

gù shì shì shuō ： jī zhì yǒng yuǎn néng dài lái hǎo de jiě shì 。
