11.狮子和老鼠 (The Lion and the Mouse)iconsound

yǒu yī cì , yī tóu shī zǐ zhèng zài shuì jiào de shí hòu ,yǒu zhī lǎo shǔ zài tā zhōu wéi pǎo lái pǎo qù 。

有一次,一头狮子正在睡觉的时候,有只老鼠在它周围跑来跑去。

Once when a Lion was asleep a little Mouse began running up and down upon him;

hěn kuài , shī zǐ jiù bèi chǎo xǐng le ,

很快,狮子就被吵醒了,

this soon wakened the Lion,

tā yòng dà zhuǎ ér zǐ dǎi zhù le lǎo shǔ ,

它用大爪儿子逮住了老鼠,

who placed his huge paw upon him, 

zhāng dà zuǐ bɑ yào bǎ tā tūn xià qù   。 

张大嘴巴要把它吞下去 。

and opened his big jaws to swallow him.  

lǎo shǔ kū zhuó zhe qǐng qiú shuō: “ ò、 duì bù qǐ !

老鼠哭着请求说:“哦,对不起!

"Pardon, O King," cried the little Mouse:

guó wáng, qǐng yuán liàng wǒ zhè cì bɑ , wǒ jiāng yǒng yuǎn gǎn ēn bù jìn ,

国王,请原谅我这次吧,我将永远感恩不尽,

"Pardon, O King," cried the little Mouse:

shuō bù zhǔn yě xǔ yǒu yī tiān wǒ néng bāng nǐ yī gè máng 。”

说不准也许有一天我能帮你一个忙。” 

who knows but what I may be able to do you a turn some of these days?"

suī rán shī zǐ jué de lǎo shǔ yě néng bāng zhù tā de zhè gè shuōfǎ hěn kě xiào ,

虽然狮子觉得老鼠也能帮助它的这个说法很可笑,

The Lion was so tickled at the idea of the Mouse being able to help him, 

dàn tā hái shì sōng kāi le zhuǎ ér zǐ bǎ lǎo shǔ fàng zǒu le 。 

但它还是松开了爪儿子把老鼠放走了。

that he lifted up his paw and let him go.  

hòu lái , shī zǐ diào jìn le xiàn jǐng ,

后来,狮子掉进了陷阱,

Some time after the Lion was caught in a trap,

liè rén men bǎ tā huó zhuō qǐ lái yào sòng gěi guó wáng 。

猎人们把它活捉起来要送给国王。

and the hunters who desired to carry him alive to the King, 

yīn cǐ xiān bǎ tā bǎng zài shù shàng ,hǎo qù zhǎo mǎ chē lái yùn sòng tā 。

因此先把它绑在树上,好去找马车来运送它。

tied him to a tree while they went in search of a waggon to carry him on.  

zhèng zài zhè shí , xiǎo lǎo shǔ ǒu rán jīng guò ,

正在这时,小老鼠偶然经过,

Just then the little Mouse happened to pass by,

kàn dào xiàn zài kùn jìng zhōng bēi shāng de shī zǐ ,

看到陷在困境中悲伤的狮子,

and seeing the sad plight in which the Lion was,

jiù zǒu shàng qián qù yǎo duàn kǔn bǎng shòu zhōng zhī wáng de shéng suǒ   。

就走上前去咬断捆绑兽中之王的绳索 。

went up to him and soon gnawed away the ropes that bound the King of the Beasts.

xiǎo lǎo shǔ shuō : “ wǒ shuō de duì mǎ ? ” 。

小老鼠说:“我说的对吗?”。

"Was I not right?"said the little Mouse.

gù shì shì shuō : xiǎo péng yǒu yě néng bāng zhù dà péng yǒu 。

故事是说:小朋友也能帮助大朋友。

Little friends may prove great friends.
